MEN'S COMMITTEE MEETING
Tuesday, May 17, 2010
In attendance: Brett Breslin, Kevin Mckee, Barry Tucker, Bill Panzino,Jay Sullivan,Bill McPhee,Steve May,John McCarty and Bob Giusti. Meeting began 6:01.
The meeting began without a secretary's report because the secretary was absent. The Chairman Brett Breslin asked for a voluntary secretary fill in and was met with complete silence. This is the only time these 9 men would be quiet the rest of the night. I guess they felt I don't do enough already so I took over another duty.
A giant celebration was held for John McCarty's triumphant return to the men's committee. He has been assigned to Handicaps and has already issued penalty scores. Welcome back Mac.
The treasurer Bill Panzino celebrated his wedding anniversary by bringing Barbara to the men's committee meeting. He also went over the latest bank statement and made out a check to the club to finish off the opening day scramble. It was discussed that we will hold the money for the Wednesday Night League as usual.
The handicap report included a plea from Bill McPhee for the members to fill out their cards properly. Mcphee who was coming off a +22 or something that today didn't seemed concerned with his handicap.
Steve May announced there was no house committee report due to a lack of a meeting. He tried to say something else but everyone else was to loud for me to hear him.
Jay Sullivan gave the greens committee report and all seems to be good. Ed and his crew have a few projects underway and everything seems to be progressing. They are going to even out the bunkers over the next few weeks. There is a crystal missing from 2 flag sticks which will be replaced. How to handle the right side of 13 in tournaments was discussed. We will let Bob and Ed have the final say.
Tournament Chairman Barry Tucker said the Opening Day Scramble and President's Cup were successes. We have a busy schedule coming up with the one day member guest May 28th, The Murphy Cup May 30th and the Spring Member Guest June 5th + 6th. He also announced anybody from his regular group that was not in attendance for this night would be kicked out.
Bob Giusti said all is well in the Pro Shop. He discusses the possibility of a 32 man match play tournament to run during the season. The committee gave their support.
Brett gave the Executive Committee report. That meeting consisted of Cronin discussions, An RDC representative going over strategies to bring in new members thru the current members and the use of social media and the internet.
The next meeting will be June 15th at 5 PM with a 60 minute time limit because Brett has an executive committee meeting at 6 PM. Meeting adjourned 7:14. Respectfully submitted mostly in the third person by Brett Breslin.
